It was Christmas morning 2010 and I was having breakfast with my family. We paid extra attention to the cups and plates, the napkins and my little butter tray. The candles were lit and it was actually snowing outside! I had on Skyradio because they play non-stop Christmas songs and well I felt nostalgic and really enjoyed the moment.
At that moment the news came on and it being Christmas morning there was really not alot of news. I waited for a moment to add to my feelings, you know, someone did something special somewhere so that we could all be all mellow about that. Instead the person who read the news said; In a large zoo in Amsterdam a hippo died this morning.
We stopped for a moment, looked at each other and said; did this guy just say that a hippo died in a zoo this morning?? Its Freakin’ Christmas morning! Was there not another thing they could have said?? Ok ok I understand its better then the; so many people died and someone hung themselves in Egypt, you know our usual news, but even on Christmas morning a hippo that died was better than telling us a good news story???? Have they lost their minds completely??? Well I guess they have and in that moment I realized that news was only news if it was bad. Even if it came into my living room on Christmas morning!
Our media could change our world by connecting our hearts and let us know that we as a human race are moving forward. They have the power to lift us and to keep us feeling good about our wonderful world but instead a large part of what is said and written is keeping us down. It is focused on things that make our energy level low, our blood pressure higher and our minds numb. Is that possible? Yes that is possible! There are studies done in Universities that show us that we are affected by bad things.
For instance, one study show us two people that are both involved and who are in separate rooms. Both connected to brain instruments and blood pressure instruments. One of them is put in front of a TV and is watching different pictures. The other person just sits in a room next door. When the picture is on a negative event they can see that the person watching this has a higher blood pressure but what is even more fascinating is that the person in the next room who is not actually seeing the pictures also has a higher blood pressure every time the other person saw a picture that was not a happy one.
From that time on, I am not watching a lot of news anymore! Why should I? Name everything bad and well you have basically covered 2 years worth of news. I have decided to be a positive influence on other people instead. That is a lot better for my blood pressure and even the people I am connected to. If watching a picture that is not happy has that affect on the body, energy and brain well imagine what a smile can do! It is time to step out of the mass and to change our world step by step.
We create our world and our steps along the way; all we have to do is to be conscious about this. Stop tuning in so much and walk your own truth. When you give something positive you will receive something positive’; the gift of giving. The smile and the fun of knowing you just gave someone something positive. Watching my children open their presents on Christmas morning actually gives me the same feeling as opening them. Even more because looking for them, buying them, wrapping them just really made me feel good inside! Read and listen to whatever you want but stay balanced and realize that the picture presented is not the whole thing.
Somewhere in the world, on Christmas morning 2010 a hippo was born!
